Yogalates

Yogalates is an exercise program which couples all of the benefits of yoga and Pilates into one main system. It has proven an extremely popular form of exercise as it offers more variety than standard yoga but increases the flexibility of Pilates. For those who are enthusiastic students of the yogalates movement, it is comforting to know that there are classes and qualified instructors across the globe. Initially devised by Louise Solomon in Australia, yogalates popularity has travelled the world because it has become readily available in DVD form which enables the student to be able to practice in the comfort of their own home.

The DVDs' themselves are a good advocate of the style because they have taken into consideration the levels of fitness experienced by those who may purchase the exercise DVD. In addition to Louise Solomon who performs an advance style routine, there are others who show the less advance positions of each exercise and these positions should be practised if the maximum position is not obtainable.

There are different DVDs' also which focus on specific problem areas or themes such as:

Yogalates
- for weight-loss
- for energising
-? 'toning

There are many benefits which include:

-? 'tones the stomach
-? s'trengthens the lower back
- Improves core stability
- Improves lymph circulation
- Helps to connect mind, body and spirit
- Focuses on breathing techniques

It can be practised by men and women alike but is especially useful for those people who may have weak abdominal muscles and weak muscles in the lower back area. It is also extremely useful for those who have arthritis, poor circulation and even incontinence. A resistance band is required for some of the exercises but this can help to increase flexibility and helps to work deep within the muscle groups whilst the student has correct posture alignment. The key to success is to work with the body. Go only as far as you can go within the exercises themselves and this will prevent injury. Rapid results can be experienced through regular and committed practise of Yogalates.
